The East African Interpreters and Translators Association, based in Nairobi, Kenya, is the main group for language professionals in the East African region. EAITA is pleased to announce that it will host its First Africa International Translation Conference on 8th – 9th February 2019 in
The conference will bring together language professionals from across East Africa, Africa as a whole, Europe and beyond. EAITA aims to assist the professional development of language professionals with learning and networking opportunities i.e. provide the opportunity to learn from and meet major figures in the translation profession from across the world.
Call for Papers:
Submissions based on issues of relevance to language professionals, especially freelancers are
requested. Issues such as:
- The use of CAT tools;
- Finding and retaining clients remotely;
- Collaboration with peers;
- Opportunities and challenges the profession faces;
- Dealing with specific issues that have an impact on the work of freelancers and self-employed translators and interpreters,
- General trends in the translation and interpreting professions, etc.
Presentations, in English, will be 25 minutes long with 5 minutes for questions. Abstracts should be submitted to email@example.com by 30th November 2018. Abstracts should be no more than 500 words long (excluding title, references and examples).
Please send in the abstract in WORD format as a file attachment. In the subject heading of the e-mail, please indicate: AITCO 2019 Abstract.
In the body of the e-mail, please include the following information:
- Title of abstract
- Area of freelance translation practice addressed by the presentation
- Name(s) of presenter
- Photograph of presenter
- E-mail address of presenter
Selected speakers can attend the conference without purchasing a ticket. No other costs will be covered. We look forward to receiving your proposals.
