Alfred Mtawali
CHAIRMAN

Alfred is an English-Swahili, English-Giryama translator. He started his translation career as an in-house Bible translator with Bible Translation and Literacy (EA) in 1992 under which he translated the Bible into the Giryama language and trained other translators from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan. In 2012, he went into full time freelance translation.

Alfred holds an undergraduate degree in Translation from Pan Africa Christian University and a Masters in Development Studies from St Paul’s University. He also heads the Kenya chapter of the International Association of Professional Translators and Interpreters (IAPTI). Alfred resides in Nairobi with his wife and daughter. Sarah Wachilonga
Vice-Chair

Sarah Wachilonga is a freelance English/Swahili translator with over 7 years experience in the fields of Translation, Website Localization, Proofreading and Transcription. She is a qualified translator with a Masters Degree in Translation from the University of Nairobi and Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from Kenyatta University.

Prior to freelancing, she worked as a part time tutor at Alphax College, Eldoret and a private teacher in Nairobi where she taught Maths, Chemistry and Biology. She helps her clients pass their intended message to the recipient by offering quality and up-to standard translations. She can be contacted on vice-president@eaita.org.

Salome Nduku
Secretary

Salome Nduku is a Swahili/English linguist and communicator with over 10 years experience in Translation, Localization, Content Development and Radio with reputable brands. She is the Founder of Semantics Africa Limited, a language services agency based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Before that, she worked as the Sub-¬Saharan Africa Localization Specialist and Swahili Language Specialist at Google, where she oversaw the localization of Google Search, Gmail, Chrome, Maps, YouTube, Google+ and other products into Swahili and other African languages. She has in the past worked as a Swahili radio presenter for The Mediae Company, Transworld Radio and BBC Nairobi Bureau. Salome enjoys playing with words and cooking. Bonface Kyalo

Boniface has over 10+ years of translation experience in the localization industry, and has participated in the localization work of some well-known software and hardware companies. Nevertheless, he believes that working as a freelance translator requires constant learning and self-cultivation as this industry is rapidly developing.
